Mission / Vision

 Our mission is to create a safe green place where people of all ages, abilities and diverse backgrounds can relax,  play and utilise the park in harmony .

 This will help all park users bond and promote understanding and tolerance.

Our primary drive for the park was to address the deterioration of the tennis court. A temporary solution has been put in place, but a permanent solution needs to be implemented. From this initial concept, our aspirations for the park has grown and we are now aiming to develop the whole park, improving current facilities and introducing additional features. Complete

Priorities

Through the comprehensive consultation, we have identified the following priorities for the park. Which order these get addressed will depend on the funding opportunities.

  •  Relay the tennis and basketball courts and address the subsidence issue. Completed
  • Fence off the children's play area Completed
  •  Improve the children's play equipment.Completed
  • Improve the safety of the access gates Completed
  • Improve the fencing of the whole park
  • Improve the toilet facilities
  • Build a pavilion, with changing facilities
  • Provide adult exercise equipment  Completed
  • Replace the goal posts Completed

The bigger picture, in summary

  • Giving the youth community a productive way to spend time,  may reduce anti sociable behaviour
  • Tennis has longevity, with some playing still on the court into their 80's
  • Sport brings community groups together, promoting tolerance and understanding.
  • Derelict and unkempt areas breed vandalism and criminal damage.
  • Exercise promotes general wellbeing, extends life expectancy, reduces hospital admissions through reduction in chronic illnesses and reduce mental health issues.
